Characters in Background

Just added my characters in the opening shot. Surprisingly they fit well in the backgrounds. All I really did was adjust the hue/saturation according to the characters location in the shot. I am confident in the look of the film so far. The next challenge will be the interior cave shots.

Initial BG Color Study

Just did some color test for the full shot of the desert. This is not the first shot in the film. I wanted to nail down the colors and values with a big shot so the smaller shots will match better.

Conquistador_turnaround

Initial turnaround for the conquistador. Don't like the construction in this. The body is too stiff  and complicated. While his color palette is final, I will continue to work on simplifying him a bit more. Also, I need to do turnarounds on paper. Doing this step digital did not work for me.

Workbook

Here is my current workbook progress. With everything else done, I aim to complete the book within the next week. This will keep my on schedule with my Gantt chart for the summer. Many of these shots will change due to better understanding of layout.

Updated Animatic

I just wanted to try and push the villain's motivation for chasing the boy more. This particular cut is not working. Thus, I will stick to my original animatic. As I stated in my online class, I just need to trust in my story and get out of my own way. Tom Ardnt once said that as long as you have made the necessary preparations, everything will come together in the end. I have to continue to believe in that.

Character Designs

Here are my finished character designs. I have to do the turnaround for the conquistador, still. My next plan is to do some head and hands studies. This may alter the designs a little, but it will be for the better. Critiques are welcome.

Thesis Presentation

Introduction

Hello guys, and welcome to my thesis production blog. Here, I will be posting all of my progress throughout the summer semester and beyond. I would to take this opportunity to introduce you all to my film, Prey.

Prey tells the tale of a cruel conquistador in pursuit of his escaped prisoner, a Native American boy. Unbeknownst to the conquistador, the boy is not at all who he seems. The nature of the boy's escape is soon revealed to be a fatal trap for his pursuer.

I am really excited about this film, and wish to make it capture the industry's attention. Of course, this can not be done without the help of my peers. I look forward to you all's critiques and motivation. Let's make a masterpiece!
